Med Beauty – youthful skin for a lifetime
Dermato-medical cosmetics are becoming increasingly important. One pioneer in the industry is the Swiss dermatologist Dr. med. Harald Gerny. Back in the early 1980s, he was one of the first to recognize the extraordinary potential of combining medicinal active ingredients with cosmetic ingredients. For almost 20 years, Dr. Gerny has been investing his knowledge and experience with these so-called ‘Cosmeceuticals’ in his cosmetics company ‘Med Beauty Swiss’. With astounding results when it comes to keeping skin healthy and youthful.
The driving force behind Med Beauty Swiss is the innovative spirit of one Swiss dermatologist. As early as 1980, just a few years after passing his State Examination in Medicine at the University of Zürich, Dr. Harald Gerny opened his first practice with a medical-cosmetic department. Even as a child, Dr. Harald Gerny already knew that he would take this path – his mother had a dermatological cosmetic practice in Vienna and later in Switzerland.
During his studies, Dr. Harald Gerny already decided to embark on new paths in the treatment and care of the skin. His interest focused mainly on prevention and the use of high-efficacy products which would ingeniously combine medicine and cosmetics. What was then a brand-new approach has now established itself under the concept ‘Cosmeceuticals’. As a forerunner in the industry, Dr. Harald Gerny founded the Schweizerische Gesellschaft für medizinische Kosmetik (SGMK) in 1993.

According to Dr. Harald Gerny, “To maintain the skin’s quality for a lifetime, you should already give it the right care when you are 20 years old. This has proven to be the best prerequisite for keeping the skin healthy and retaining the freshness of youth in the long term.” Harmful factors which subject the skin to daily stress are increasing over the years. Experts assume that there will not be any major improvement in this trend in the future, but rather that matters will deteriorate. A core competence of Med Beauty is to restorer to the skin what it has gradually lost over time and can no longer produce. This is achieved through high-dose and thus particularly effective products and the appropriate treatments. “This results in a tangible and visible rejuvenation of the skin.” Dr Harald Gerny continues.
Med Beauty – ‘Made in Switzerland’ quality
6 out of the 7 care ranges from Med Beauty are developed and produced entirely in Switzerland. There is one thing that all our products have in common; the ingredients all come from so-called ‘healthy sources’ – e.g. peptides (proteins) from milk, active flavonoids from soya beans and most current of all, stem cell extract from apples. According to Dr. Gerny, “We try to isolate the individual active ingredient from a natural substance. By doing this, it is possible to practically exclude any allergic reactions.”
Another major aspect I the effectiveness of the products is the composition of the cosmetic carrier substances (cream, gel, emulsion, lotion, etc). med Beauty coordinates this in such a way that the active ingredients are ideally embedded and reach the site of action in the skin in a high concentration, with pinpoint precision.
